Seabed Survey

The Seabed Survey project focuses on developing local skills while improving understanding of the marine environment around Cairnies Quay.

The association funded two young people to complete PADI scuba diving training to a depth of 18 metres. The opportunity was advertised locally, including through Largs Sailing Club, the Mooring Association and Scout groups in Largs and Skelmorlie.

Saj and Rosie have now completed their training and will join existing members Simon and Angus  in carrying out seabed surveys during summer 2026.

The aim of this work is to examine the seabed within the moorings field, identifying debris and observing marine life in an area that is rarely seen from the surface.
